Coffee Lovers hop

 Woot!  It's my favorite time of year!  The Spring/Summer Coffee Lovers hop has arrived!  Would you like to play along?  Click HERE to get all of the details.

My card for today features a gorgeous digital stamp from Super Sponsor Rachel Vass Designs.  I am using images from the Cup of Joe set.  You can find that HERE in her Etsy shop.

I shook things up because this card actually opens to the left instead of the top.  You could even turn it the other way if you liked how it looked from that direction.  I printed it on Neenah Solar White cardstock.  The background is a combination of Copic markers in BG18, 13 and 11.  I went over it several times until I had a nice blend.  Then I went back and added dot detail to make the transition more visually appealing.  

While I was coloring it I realized my BG11 was bone dry so I refilled it.  Well, I must have overfilled it because it just wanted to create big blobs.  So, I let it!  I changed it to an advantage instead of a disadvantage.  Sometimes you just have to go with it!

The coffee cup is colored with V01, Y17, Y15 and Y13.  The coffee itself is E29, E27 and E25.

I wanted the coffee cup to really pop so I went with minimal details on the saucer and flowers.  I added shading with a graphite pencil around the cup and on the flower petals.  I used a blending stump to smooth it out a bit.  I used a fine tip black pen to add the flower center detail.  It's a little outside my comfort zone to doodle but I did it anyway!

The rest of the card is pretty simple.  I cut the coffee panel with a stitched rectangle die.  I ran a another piece of Neenah cardstock through with a circles embossing folder.  I glued the embossed piece to the card base.  I added foam tape to the back of the coffee panel and added it to the card base as well.  And that's it! #springsummer2021clh
